Promoting Collaborative Management of Protected Areas: Biodiversity Conservation that involves Indigenous Peoples by JOAS (Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia)

The project builds upon the valuable lessons learnt from a pilot project on collaborative management (CM) in the Crocker Range Park in 2006. The project aims at dissemination of the lessons learnt on CM and replicates the developed CM model in other areas within the Crocker Range Park and other protected areas in Sabah and Malaysia as whole.

Using PAR (Participatory Action Research), the project will develop a comprehensive documentation and management model in the following 4 communities :

Documentation of collaborative management pilot project activities in Kg. Ulu Senagang, Keningau

Integrated Watershed Conservation and Management in Kg. Tiga, Tambunan

Community based Micro hydro and watershed conservation in Kg. Buayan, Penampang

Community Mapping and zoning of community forestry area in Kg. Mangkawagu, Tongod
