This project involves 19 villages located along the upper Moyog River and Papar River area of Sabah. Most of the areas were gazetted as the Crocker Range National Park and is also the main water catchments which supplies water to the city of Kota Kinabalu and major towns in the West Coast of Sabah.
Due to increasing population in Sabah, natural resources such as land and produce from the forest are getting scarce. This is coupled by the fact that Crocker Range has now been declared as a national park and some parts of Upper Moyog as water catchment and forest reserve. Through this project, the communities hope to enhance their capacity to manage this limited natural resource as well as negotiate with the government to co-manage this area for the common good of all. |
